Pendleton On Wheels (POW) is an enthusiastic group of people sharing the fun, building friendships and inspiring each other through cycling.

Motto: “Nobody gets hurt and nobody gets left behind.”

History: POW was officially founded March 15, 2005, two years after the Century Ride of the Century (CROC) was started. POW is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization to advocate for bicycle recreation and safety. POW gives back to the community by donating grants to youth-based organizations.

Mission: To promote the sport of bicycling.

Grants:

In 2014, POW gave out a total of $2,500 in grant money to 5 youth-based organizations in the city of Pendleton.

In 2015, POW gave out a total of $3,000 to 6 youth-based organizations.

In 2016, POW gave out a total of $5,240 to 11 youth-based organizations. The money raised for these grants came from the Century Ride of the Century (CROC) bike ride that POW organizes and hosts every Memorial Day weekend.

In 2017 POW gave $6,175 back to the community to 13 youth-based organizations in the city of Pendleton.

In 2018, POW gave $3,907 to 8 different youth-based organizations. The money for these grants came from the CROC (Century Ride of the Century) bike ride, a 3-day event that POW organized in 2016 and 2017.

In 2019 POW inaugurated the miniCROC, a one day ride, to help fund youth programs in the area. Five $300 grants for a total of $1,500 were awarded.

When COVID hit in 2020 through 2022 no fundraising rides were held. POW awarded two $500 grants for $1,000 in those years.

In 2023 POW hosted a no cost Social Ride to see if riders were still interested in a one day ride. We had a modest turn out and were able to grant two $500 grants for a total of $1,000.

In 2024 POW is again offering a one day miniCROC and hope generate more grants.
